One of today’s most popular performing arts is magic tricks. This art form is created to entertain people who are willing to be tricked by creating an illusion of the impossible. This happens right in front of the audiences eyes. The people that help to create these wonderful illusions are known as magicians.

The term Magi’s is Latin for Magi. A Magi was someone who read the stars as well as foretold the future for their communities. One of the greatest creators of magic tricks was the illusionist and escapologist Harry Houdini. In fact, Houdini was probably the greatest magicians as well as escapologists that ever lived.

Magic tricks are successfully created with mis direction and sleight of hand. Sometimes mirrors or some other form of deception was used as well. Anything the magician could do to create a sense of wonder as he performs his seemingly impossible magic tricks.

Audiences are the biggest part of these magic tricks though. Without a willing audience, they wouldn’t be possible. People who go to a magic show are willingly opening themselves to deception. They are willing to be entertained by trickery. But trickery or not, the shows always amaze the audiences.

Houdini’s main reason for success was because he earned the trust of his fans. He spent time debunking charlatans who claimed they had magical powers by showing how they performed their tricks but while also performing tricks of his own. Following suit today are magicians like Penn and Teller who perform the same stunts of magic and debunking.

For a long time in the U. S., magic tricks were thought to be mainly children’s entertainment. This would change though with the revival of Doug Henning. He worked to bring the great magic tricks back to huge public audiences of adults and he became popular on television as well as on stage.

In the twentieth century, many illusionists have emerged that are simply amazing. Performers like David Blaine perform Houdini style magic tricks like escapes and physical endurance displays for his fans. Most of these magicians we see on television perform their magic tricks in front of a live audience in order to gain the trust of their television audience.

Today’s tricks are based on the old principals of magic tricks. The saying it’s all done with mirrors was about magic tricks performed with mirrors. However, today magicians don’t typically use mirrors anymore. They are very hard to set up as well as transport.

There are different types of magic tricks that can be performed. Restoration tricks are where an object is destroyed first then brought back whole again. Transformation tricks are when objects change from one thing into another. Vanishing tricks are when the magician makes an object or person disappear and Production tricks are where he makes things appear out of nowhere.

Tricks of teleportation are when an illusionist is able to move one object from one place to another. Escapology is when an illusionist is able to escape some sort of restraints and move his way to safety. Illusionists also perform levitation where they seemingly make an object, or even a person, float in mid air. Penetration illusions are where the performer makes one solid object pass through another one. Most magic shows today have a good mix of all of these magical stunts. They are able to wow audiences each time.
