Put Multiple Organization Tools Into One

Software No Comments »

If you’re using multiple tools for communication and organization, you should consider getting only one and benefit from it. There are so many tools available that you may lose the overview which to use and which not. The result is that most users have an application installed for every purpose.

It can be a hard task to add all different data, like appointments, notes, tasks and contacts into a single tool and don’t lose the overview. This often results into several tools, one for its own type of data. This way of organization may result in a higher level of confusion. When your different tools aren’t synced with each other, you need to ask yourself which program is holding the information you currently need.

Does it take too long for you to find a contact’s address, email or phone number. How long does it take to find a meeting slot for you and three other people? These are typical situations where a lack of functions and interoperability between your different tools make your daily work harder as it needs to be. It’s still common to use MS Excel for organization, but Excel is definitive the wrong software for this job. Excel is great when it comes to calculating with formulas, but it should be the last option for organization.

You should better consider using a Personal Information Manager (PIM). PIMs are designed to ease your daily personal and business work. Your output will rise with less effort.

Some PIMs are able to create a network which enables you to share information with others. Finding a free meeting time becomes a one click action, contacting others, too. When it comes to PIMs most users think about Microsoft Outlook. As Outlook offers the richest set of functions, it’s also the most expensive one. Some cheaper alternatives and especially designed for individuals or small companies are Pimero, iCal or Do-Organizer.

Touch Screen Laptops Are The Wave Of The Future

Hardware No Comments »

I love to shop for stuff, especially electronic stuff. I’ll find any excuse I can to justify buying something new. And lately, I’ve been looking for an excuse to buy a new laptop. Don’t me wrong, my current laptop is great. I’d just like another one. Maybe two other ones. I was surprised when I found out that many new laptops come equipped with touch screen technology.

My experience with touch screen devices isn’t so good. Before, I had this job where I had to carry around a small mini computer, and operate several buttons on the front with a stylus. To say I had a few problems would be an understatement. But the ones I saw at the computer shop were exceptional. Their were many, of course, that were hybrids. That is you could operate them as any normal laptop computer, or you could use them primarily with the touch screen function. After thinking about it, I realized there were several advantages to these wonderful pieces of machinery.

If you are ever in a coffee shop, or on an airplane, and would like to work on your laptop, it can be a pain to use that small space you are supposed to use for your mouse. It’s much easier just to tap the screen whenever you wish to navigate around. You don’t need extra space for an additional mouse.

Another great reason is that it is much faster. With mouse, you sometimes have to move the cursor just to find where it is, and then go and find the thing that you want to click on. With a touch screen laptop, everything is right in front of you. It is much simpler, and much quicker.

Scrolling on a touch screen is really fun. You don’t have to restrict yourself to moving up or down, or right or left. You can pretty much move however you want.

Of course, I spent much more time looking at these machines that I had planned. Once I figure out which brand and model is best to suit my needs, I’ll be buying a laptop with a touch screen.

What Is The Process For San Antonio Water Damage Restoration?

Security No Comments »

San antonio Water Damage Restoration services work the same way as anywhere else. Water leaks and flooding can destroy your home or property. Water damage restoration professionals work to bring your home back to the predamage condition. Federal government does not regulate the restoration industry at the present; however, there are two organizations that provide guidelines for the industry to follow. RIA and IICRC provide the standards.

Even though standards and guidelines are there for companies to follow, it is important to remember that under certain circumstances the companies may have to deviate from the guidelines. While there is no Federal regulation of this industry, there are Federal, State and local laws regarding who can perform these services.

If circumstances allow, the steps suggested by RIA or the IIRC should be followed.

Documenting all items that have been damaged is a must. These items may need to be replaced or, if possible, fixed in order to get them back to the original condition. If restoring the furnishings is going to cost more than it is worth, it will be replaced.

Make sure the company performs a thorough inspection of the possible affected areas. This means that the company will have to figure out where the water is coming from which may require the use of specialized equipment. Once identified, the areas that need to be treated will first have to dried out. In addition to the drying, sanitizing and deoderizing are a must as well. Dehumidifiers and giant fans, that are extremely noisey, air scrubbers and other tools will be left at the residence for at least 2 to 3 days after the labor portion of the job is complete. When that time period has passed, the company will return to perform an evaluation to see if everything is going okay. It is at that time that they may remove whatever equipment is no longer necessary.

The amount of pollution in the water will place the damage into one of three categories.

- Category 1 is water from a clean or sanitary source. – Category 2 is water with some level of contaminants that could cause discomfort or illness if ingested. – Category 3 water is grossly unsanitary, and can lead to illness or death if ingested.

Move items out of the area that are not damaged and may get in the way of the company performing the restoration. Reason being is that if they have to move it you will be charged for it.

If you have any questions, do not be afraid to ask.

When acceptable levels of temperature, humidity and moisture are achieved, the job is over.

As with any job, carelessness is not okay. Research the guidelines recommended to see if the company is following them. If they are not, it is okay to ask why they are doing it different.
